I Heart Faces: Black

This week's challenge at I Heart Faces is Black!  I just happened to take a few pics of my sweet girl to try to get back into the swing of things after having the baby, and she just happened to want to wear black the day we went out.  Perfection! I love this photo of her because she looks sweet yet cheeky.  She is looking more and more grown up (turning 3 this week!), but I can still see her at 6 months old.  How did my baby girl grow up so fast?!  She is absolutely my heart walking around outside of my body.

Plowing through Pinterest: Deep Dark Chocolate Cookies

This weekend we went to an actual "Harvest Party."  We ate some incredible food, visited with amazing people, and then were told that we could bring home some of their harvest since they had an abundance!  I got a few things and tried to leave some for others, but not many others were going to get stuff, so I got a bit more...and then a bit more...and then some more!  We came home with homegrown tomatoes; spaghetti and acorn squash; red, Yukon gold, and Russet potatoes; onions and bell peppers!  I'm so excited to try them.  And I am of course excited to check out Pinterest for ideas on what to do with them all ;)

I think that there were between 75 and 100 people there, so of course that means there needs to be A LOT of food.  We were asked to bring a dessert to share with everyone, so again I went to my trusty ol' Pinterest, found a recipe under "Tasty Treats" and immediately knew which recipe I was going to use to Plow Through!  I chose the Deep Dark Chocolate Cookies and I have to say, they were just as yummy and easy as they look!  I love that they had no flour or butter, because as far as I am concerned, the fewer ingredients I have to use, the better!

There were, of course, many other desserts that accompanied my little chocolate friends, and everything that I tried was AMAZING!  I did, however, have someone tell me that they thought that my dessert was the best one there and his wife asked me for the recipe so that she could make them.  Good ol' Pinterest comes through again!

How about you, have you been Plowing Through Pinterest at all this week??

(The best part about this picture is that there is a bite taken out of the cookie and my spiced chai is almost all gone!  I had taken some pictures with my camera, went to the computer to download them with my cookie and chai in hand, noticed that something funky had gone on with every. last. one. of them, but could only take this shot with my phone because I had already dug in!  Classy huh?! ;))

I Heart Faces: Tickled Pink

The theme for this week's I Heart Faces challenge is Tickled Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Here is my entry, my sweet lil' girl with her pink sunnies and flower that mommy made.  What an indulgent child :)

Plowing through Pinterest: Wreath

Remember how I told you a few days ago about my goal to Plow Through Pinterest?  Well, in a very unlike-me fashion, plow I did!  I made some coffee creamer, which I will post about another time, super yummy, easy, and not so many "whatintheworldisthat" ingredients!  BUT for today I wanted to share my wreath that I made.  The picture that I pinned was this:

So, so cute, right?! It was originally from little things bring smiles.  But I didn't trace it back all the way til just now so I made my flowers differently.  I think I may just try again though since I'm not in love with my finished product:
It turned out ok, and I'm glad that I've at least got a fall wreath this year and I was able to "plow," but I feel like it needs something more.  Any suggestions??

Plowing Through Pinterest

Come here.  A little bit closer.  I have to tell you a secret.  Closer still.  Whoa, not that close, I hardly know you!  Okay, are you ready?  I have a bad habit.   Didya catch that?!  K, I'll say it a little louder, but listen up, because this is the last time I will say it:  I have a bad habit.  What's that?  Oh brother, I actually have to confess what it is?!  Alright, here we go, but it's just between you and me and the whole world wide bloomin' web.

I have a terrible habit of gathering ideas and never actually doing anything with those ideas.  There we go, I said it!  I have carried along with me for years stacks of recipes that I FINALLY have typed up, but STILL not cooked.  I have numerous bookmarks in my browser that are fun crafty ideas for baby girl stuff (my daughter is almost 3), beautiful quilts (I barely know how to sew), scrapbook layouts and websites (I've finished about 3 months' worth of my daughter's FIRST YEAR!!).  Of course I also have a craft room full of stuff needed to work on any of those things (fabric, paper, Cricut, books, along with thousands of other useless things that I've kept "just in case").  I have accumulated so many things that I just haven't used that I have recently been thinking that I should just get rid of it all.  Clear my hard drive of tasty treats yet to be eaten in this house.  Clear my craft room of stuff I just haven't used and probably never will.  Clear my mind of all the money and time that I've wasted solely because I won't get off my booty to do it.

And then Pinterest came into my life.

Oh dear, dear Pinterest.

A plethora of ideas in one tidy place.  It doesn't even take up any room in my computer/house/head!  Yet another place to gain from other people's craftiness and genius-ness (yep, it's a word, one that us geniuseseseses use!) by pinning it on a board, never to been seen again. Huzzah!

Then the other day I was thinking (remember, I am a genius, it's what I do best!) that it might be a good idea to (gasp!) actually try some of these ideas!  I'm tired of gathering and not acting, but I also don't want to NOT do any of these things I've "pinned."  And so I have begun a new journey! I have to say, so far it's been fun!  If you'd like, you can join me in it.  At some point I think it would be fun for other people to link up to see how they have "Plowed Through Pinterest," but that will have to be much further down the road since I don't have a clue as to how to even get people to start reading this blog.

So there you go...a ridiculously long introduction to what is sure to be a fun journey!

(Five points to whoever can guess which pin this is a picture of!  What?!  You need to know where to find my pins?!  Kinda demanding aren't ya?! ;) Go here to find me).

(And yes, I do realize this is a terrible picture, but The Girl woke up from her nap a little earlier than I expected so that's as good as we're gonna get for now!)

Ten on Tuesday: Ten Awesome Pinterest Quotes

I found this fun blog, It's a Crafty Life from my friend Chelsea's blog.  On Tuesdays, It's a Crafty Life does something called Ten on Tuesday "when you blog about whatever's on your mind...random info about you, events going on in your life, a top ten list, ten pictures, whatever...so long as it is 10 items!"  So I thought I would give it a shot!

I love Pinterest.  I am awake at odd hours of the night due to my sweet little boy who nurses a couple of times at night, and in order to stay awake I have been known to bust out my iPhone and hop onto The Best Site Ever.  One of the things I love to look at on there is quotes.  Funny, thought-provoking, things-that-make-you-go-huh?!, I like them all!  So without further ado, here are some of my faves!

Pretty great huh?!

Take a look at some other "Tens" by clicking on this link.  I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get the cute bird button shown on the blog, but apparently it will have to wait until I have a bit more sleep under my belt ;)

Introductions

This is my sweet, crazy, wonderful family.  Now for a little bit about each of us...

Me - I am a stay at home mommy who works a little bit from home.  I have recently become interested in photography and love to use it in crafting.  I am not great at anything craft-wise, but I love to try it all!  I am totally committed to my family and am so thankful for them.  I am a Christian and am seeking God's will for my life.

The Hubs - My husband is your typical hot, amazing, Godly man :)  He loves his sports but loves his family more.  I am totally amazed and blessed by him and how much he loves us.

The Girl - My sweet almost-three year old lives to make people laugh.  She brings joy (with a side of feisty) with her wherever she goes.

The Boy - Since The Boy has just learned to smile, the rest of my family's goal is to bring that sweet grin out for everyone to see!  He's only a few months old, so he doesn't "do" a lot, but he's just as much of a joy as his big sister!

Well there you go!  Now that you "know" us, I look forward to getting to know YOU!

Reason Behind the Name

Our kitchen is my favorite room in the house.  It is obviously a place to eat and cook, both of which I enjoy, but it is so much more than that.  I craft there (much to my husband's chagrin, I am sure!), my kids play and hang out there, when people come over they congregate there.  When there is a football game on, I bust out some reading or crocheting so that the Hubs and I can be together.  On cool autumn days we open the door and let the crisp morning air fill the room while drinking coffee.  My daughter's very pink collection of toys is normally scattered all around the room.  My son swings happily while we try to make him smile.  It is the hub of the happenings of my family.  It is where we do life.

I'd love for you to join me, in just doing life, whatever that may entail!

(Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a door to open and some coffee to pour!)
